AACP Accredited Pharmacists’ Forum - Meeting the Challenges of Appropriate Medicines Management in the Older Adult

The Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy (AACP) once again welcomes all pharmacists to its pre -Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference (APP) clinical pharmacy forum.

The forum will be held on Wednesday 23 March 2022 at QT Gold Coast, from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

The theme for the day is Meeting the Challenges of Appropriate Medicines Management in the Older Adult. The program is structured to provide accredited pharmacists, those undergoing accreditation and other interested pharmacists with relevant high-quality education covering therapeutics, practice pointers and clinical controversies.

Once again, the AACP is delighted to welcome a group of experienced and popular speakers. Brisbane-based geriatrician Dr Anthony French returns with a discussion on the importance of medication management in cognitively impaired patients.

For those managing patients with Parkinson’s Disease, geriatrician Professor Brian Wood will present on managing the adverse effects of pharmacological therapies so that benefit is maximised. It’s all about getting the balance right.

Karl Winckel Advanced Practice Pharmacist, working at Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital and the School of Pharmacy, University of Queensland will speak on the still controversial role of aspirin in the prevention of thromboembolic events in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Regular presenters Dr Gary Deed, Debbie Rigby, and Joyce McSwan will join them.
