Things to do in Adelaide

Adelaide Tourism

Adelaide Central Market

Adjacent to the conference venue, the Adelaide Central Market, established in 1869, has been a thriving hub of food and culture for over 145 years.

With over 80 traders under one roof, the Adelaide Central Market is the largest under cover market in the Southern Hemisphere, buzzing with life and colour all year round. The Market offers a huge range of fresh food including fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry, seafood, cheeses, bakery, smallgoods and health foods, along with some of Adelaide’s most popular cafes and eateries.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival 5 to 20 June 2020

Now in its 20th year and the biggest festival of its kind, Adelaide Festival Centre’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival has continued to attract truly outstanding artists from around the country and the world. The Festival not only highlights the big names but makes them, too.

Stroll the Galleries of Elegant North Terrace

Visit Adelaide’s most elegant boulevard, North Terrace, home to the city’s most important cultural institutions. Apart from State Parliament, Adelaide Casino and the Convention Centre, this tree-lined street hosts the Art Gallery of South Australia, the South Australian Museum and The University of Adelaide. Round off your walk by visiting the Botanic Gardens, a legacy of Adelaide’s past with historic buildings and three striking glasshouses on site.

Go Shopping in The East End

Searching for something quirky? Explore Adelaide’s East End at Rundle Street. Once the site of the Central Market, the area is undergoing a retail renaissance. Check out Bauhaus for gifts, Bimbo for homewares and Sooki for designer labels.

Head for The Adelaide Hills

Head to the Adelaide Hills — a tranquil place to recharge the batteries. The hills are much more than a geographic backdrop for the city; they provide much of its food and they are major wine-growing district with some 50 cellar doors. Stop for lunch at The Lane Vineyard or Bird in Hand.
