Accredited Pharmacist Competency Map
The competency map has been selected from the Competency Standards for Pharmacists in Australia 2010. It identified the core competencies required to practice in the area of medication reviews. In some circumstances, however, individuates may need to consider additional Domains and Competency Standards as being relevant to their practice (e.g. domain 3 may be relevant to an accredited pharmacists in a management role).
National Competency Standards Framework
Competency standards describe the individual practitioner’s skills, attitudes and attributes (e.g. values and beliefs) based on knowledge (gained through study) and experience (gained through practice) that together is considered sufficient to enable the individual to practise as a pharmacist. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and practice improvement programs are designed to help pharmacist identify and develop area where improvements in their competencies are needed.
PSA is the custodian of the framework on behalf of the profession.
